The Story Collector’s Cart

If you would like to discuss bringing an immersive story world to your event or festival please email Rebecca at outofthebagtheatre@gmail.com

The Story Collector is now also a walk-around interaction, first created for the Hastings Storytelling Festival 2025, and available to book with the collecting-cart for festivals, events and schools.

The Story Collector interacts with the audience collecting fragments of stories and performing multiple mini storytellings. Depending on the needs of your event she is able to weave these fragments together to perform a story towards the end of the day.

For schools the Collecting Cart can fit in with your current topic or learning focus. This can be brought to you as a one-off workshop or as a project over longer term. Please get in touch to find out more and to discuss.

Examples, the cart can become:

A travelling library. Children/Audience fill the cart with their own stories.

A memory museum. Turn memories into stories. Discover the details of stories in your own memories.

A puppet house. Meet and make puppets.

A wardrobe (in the woods; in the street; on the corner) for exploring characters and place.

A snack cart in the clouds. For creating a drama scene.

All are infinitely adaptable.

The Story Collector’s Library

for the National Year of Reading 2026!

The Story Collector’s Cart is a travelling library: offering stories for children to explore. The Collector will bring a story to life, immersing the children in the world of the book. And, the children will add their story ideas to the cart, feeding existing stories and sparking new ones!

The Story Collector’s Library:

  • will fit into a classroom.

  • is a wonderful means to develop children’s communication, reading and literacy skills.

  • is a joyful, colourful way to engage children with stories and books and get them reading.

  • is a great way to extend children’s verbal and written language skills.
